James Tissot - Emmaus
Welcome to Worship - Sunday April 12th, 2020
Easter Sunday
Opening Prayer: |
While dewdrops still glisten on the freshly moved stone,
Opened Revelation, You persuade us to be mindful to Your mysterious wonder! In the face of the deep - Miracle moments where once darkness dwelt - Invoke us into your promised presence, Grace our time and space to be your host, This holy day, drawn in to see with fresh hearts - The grace spectacle which only your love can reveal. Amen. |

Prayer for Understanding |
We, too, walk with our hands to our heads
reeling bewildered failing to put together how on earth you brought life out of death. Please take our failings and our limits and treat them mercifully now as we ponder anew what it is you may do with this moment in us through us we pray. Amen. |

Hymn: He Lives |
I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer And just the time I need Him He's always near Refrain: He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart |
In all the world around me I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary I never will despair I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast The day of His appearing will come at last (Refrain) Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian Lift up your voice and sing Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find None other is so loving, so good and kind Words & Music: Alfred Ackley |

Creator God
From cruel day Friday to this morning’s dawn From twisted thorn-crown to firstborn’s diadem Fullness of Grace Fullness of Time Thou Great Spirit Soaring Life to Death to Life Anew Breathing afresh Risen Indeed Alleluia! Chaos could not consume Violence will not be the victor For you Gentled into Grace the Earth To issue forth the One Thou who revels in our process and our rebirth Patient like the shades of dawn’s horizon Unhurried as spring petals op’ning greeting Where once thorns thrived Lilies paint the landscape Where once nails drove Sacred Space lets Light through Break through to us whom you call beloved Risen in peace Rise within us Rise within our vocations and family Rise within our attitude and demeanor May our conduct and our candor be filled with the Risen Son Take our thorny losses and reveal life’s blossoms Gather our splintered selves enfold them into your wholeness Cradle our crushed spirits and Linger... Revel in our joy Revel in our rebirth of gladness Risen Lord Break forth into joy within our hearts this day Risen indeed AMEN. Prayers for Roger Dart and Family: Roger's brother passed away Saturday morning. Just in today from Sue J.: Prayers for my niece and her husband who work a family-owned farm in Cattaraugus County in the souther tier. Due to slow-downs at the milk plants they had to dump milk this past week for the first time in their 35 years of farming. Prayers for all the farmers who are going through these hard times and having to make tough decisions daily. Here's an update on Roxanne who I requested prayers for last week. Tests showed an aggressive malignant tumor in her brain. She is having surgery this Wednesday in Buffalo and no family is allowed in the hospital to be with her. She was able to come home for a few days and is glad to be with her children and husband. She has a strong faith and lots of support from family and friends and appreciates prayers. Just in today from Judy D. Please offer prayers for Judy's sister Bonnie, who is in rehab in Batavia, and waiting for results of a test of the virus. We wish her well. |
