James Tissot - Jesus Wept
Welcome to Worship - Sunday March 29th, 2020
The Fifth Sunday in Lent
Opening Prayer: |
Circle us, O Lord, with your eternal life.
Keep hope and confidence within. Keep fear and doubt without. Circle us, O Lord, with your gift of eternal life. |
Entrance Hymn:
|
God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive He lived and died to buy my pardon An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives Because He lives, I can face tomorrow Because He lives, all fear is gone Because I know He holds the future And life is worth the living, just because He lives |
How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy He gives But greater still the calm assurance This child can face uncertain day, because He lives And then one day, I'll cross the river I'll fight life's final war with pain And then, as death gives way to victory I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He reigns Words & Music: Gloria & Bill Gaither |

Prayer for Understanding |
The image of tombs are not lost on us this week, O God.
As many around the world are sheltering in place As many around the world are breathing their last breath alone We join with Jesus in the shedding of tears and also confess our lack of understanding we join the chorus of Martha and Mary and wonder and if we're honest we doubt we resonate with the words: "Lord, if you had been here this wouldn't have happened" We believe Help our unbelief Help us, O Lord to live the questions when the answers are like a rope of sand the grasp and vanish is frustrating and elusive Calm us, then, O Lord Re-mind us to breathe your Holy Spirit of Awareness and vitality so that we, like Lazarus, may live and come forth in every present moment to your Word. Amen. |
Scripture Reading: John 11:1-45 |

Hymn: My Life Flows On (How Can I Keep from Singing?) |
1 My life flows on in endless song;
above earth’s lamentation, I catch the sweet, though far off hymn that hails a new creation. Refrain: No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that Rock I’m clinging. Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing? 2 Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear that music ringing. It finds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing? [Refrain] |
3 What though my joys and comforts die?
I know my Savior liveth. What though the darkness gather round? Songs in the night he giveth. [Refrain] 4 The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing! All things are mine since I am his! How can I keep from singing? [Refrain] Words and Music: Robert Lowry ©1869 |

Prayers of the People: |
Please use the above form to submit your joys and/or requests for prayer. Your submission will be sent directly to Rev. Phil.
What's the difference Word of Life between a tomb and a womb? For You I suspect none both bear new life both prelude with pain but- Oh! the joy! by the benediction and postlude So if there's no difference for you would you please offer us the mindset of the womb right now? Wipe every tear calm every fear take our tombs of doubt and weave us wombs of wonder instead miracle us with your messianic midwifery and birth the Breath of God in our mindfulness so we may no longer be conformed to the angst of earth but that we might be transformed to the hope of Heaven embolden us to be courage that transcends our homebound helplessness strengthen us to be risen with healing in our wings to enfold the lonesome loved one incubate the infirm from afar shelter the shy soul Yes help us to be you the Risen Christ your Body Amen Visit our Prayer Ministries page and join us in specific prayer. We are so grateful for your immediate engagement with the prayer request form.
Just in yesterday: Prayers of joy and love for the Arazy's dear friend, Angela. Her tumor on her brain has not grown and Doctors are pleased with this. Also, from Lyle: For my neighbor, Marge. She continues to battle Parkinson's Disease, which was compounded by a fall with a broken pelvis two weeks ago. Prayers for her healing and comfort for both her and Tom as she may be able to return home late next week. |
What are you thankful for? |
Each week we would like to celebrate with one another for that which we are thankful. Send your video to Rev. Phil and he will upload it to the site. Let's share with each other!
For instance, Susann shares her message of thanks! |
