James Tissot - Christ Appears on the Shore of Lake Tiberias
Welcome to Worship - Sunday April 26th, 2020
2nd Sunday after Easter
Opening Prayer: |
Morning Fire Eternal,
You whose loving hospitality prepares the morning like a meal that will break the fast of all our truest desires fill us with the loving kindness you have prepared with warmth and tender ministry. Amen. |
Entrance Hymn:
|
1. Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne, Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity. 2. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save. His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high, who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. |
3. Crown him the Lord of peace,
whose power a scepter sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end, and round his pierced feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet. 4. Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou hast died for me; thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity. Words: George Elvey Tune: DIADEMATA |

Prayer for Understanding |
In the fishing boats of our lives right now
we don't know what life is going to be like when morning comes and we have no fish on our own. Do we continue to believe you've called us or do we go about our lives like before we met you? Yes, these feelings, like Peter long ago we have them, too, sometimes. So we ask for your merciful help in understanding You Your teachings and your wonderful world. Amen. |

The Lord's Prayer |
Hymn: The Summons |
Will you come and follow me
If I but call your name? Will you go where you don't know And never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known, Will you let my life be grown In you and you in me? Will you leave yourself behind If I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind And never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer In you and you in me? Will you let the blinded see If I but call your name? Will you set the prisoners free And never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean, And do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean In you and you in me? |
Will you love the 'you' you hide
If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same? Will you use the faith you've found To reshape the world around, Through my sight and touch and sound In you and you in me? Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you And never be the same. In your company I'll go Where your love and footsteps show. Thus I'll move and live and grow In you and you in me. Prayers of the People: This New Moment |
Creator of The Way -
The Way from fear into love, the Way from despair into hope. We praise you for this new... This New Moment. not just a new moment a new hour, a new day, a new season, a new year, a new... Life! Life with a bright, new outlook! Life with a fresh, innovative gleam toward the sun-dappled horizon of a glorious grace! So here we are this Easter Morning, circled in the sounds of anthems triumphant, reassured in the reverberations of resurrection hymns, persuaded by the proclamation of peace, surrounded by the completion of redemption, secure in life, everlasting in scope. And yet... We know all too well. We know when we leave this Holy Place, we’ll move from the Easter Garden Glory with the sound of trumpets and the fragrance of lilies, to the upper room reality where the stark opposition lurks outside our gates. We know there’s a world out there... full of fear; fear of oppressive power by those held in bonds beyond comprehension, fear of equalizing change by those who dictate dominion for self-promotion, fear of demoralizing death by those who lack the will to live. And so we pray, for a Resurrection resolve A resolve that moves us to living the gospel. With no fear to live life abundantly... with no holds barred! A life that boldly proclaims that... Life is alive! Open our hearts to let each moment be, filled with an awareness of you, Creator God. Let there be your “Let there be life”s constantly within our hearts, from this time forth and forevermore. Amen. Please use the above form to submit your joys and/or requests for prayer. Your submission will be sent directly to Rev. Phil.

Recessional Hymn: Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
|
1. Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
God of glory, Lord of love; hearts unfold like flowers before thee, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away. Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day! 2. All thy works with joy surround thee, earth and heaven reflect thy rays, stars and angels sing around thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in thee. |
3. Thou art giving and forgiving,
ever blessing, ever blest, well-spring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our brother, all who live in love are thine; teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine. 4. Mortals, join the mighty chorus which the morning stars began; love divine is reigning o'er us, binding all within its span. Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife; joyful music leads us sunward, in the triumph song of life. |
Benediction: |
The Peace that raised Christ from the dead be within you.
The Hope that raised Christ from the dead be around you. The Breath that raised Christ from the dead flow in and out of you. Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! |
