James Tissot - The Good Shepherd
Welcome to Worship - Sunday May 3, 2020
2nd Sunday after Easter
Opening Prayer: |
Awaken us as the dawn spreads across the horizon
take our hand and lead us from our slumber to the table you've set for us - loving kindness goodness mercy may we break fast with you and see the sunrise of your smile. Amen. |
Entrance Hymn:
|
1. The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never. I nothing lack if I am his, and he is mine forever. 2. Where streams of living water flow, my ransomed soul he leadeth; and where the verdant pastures grow, with food celestial feedeth. 3. Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me; and on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me. |
4. In death's dark vale I fear no ill,
with thee, dear Lord, beside me; thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me. 5. Thou spreadst a table in my sight; thy unction grace bestoweth; and oh, what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth! 6. And so through all the length of days, thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever. Words: Henry W. Baker Tune: ST. COLUMBA |

1 Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; as thou hast been, thou forever wilt be. Refrain: Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided; great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! |
2 Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. Prayers of the People: A Psalm 23 Tribute to First Responders and Their Charges |
The Lord, through my first responder;
I shall not want. She maketh me to lie down in blue gurneys She leadeth me beside the still skilled workers She restoreth my life: She driveth me through streets of social distancing for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For my Nurse is with me; Her eyes and her PPEs they comfort me. She preparest a respirator before me in the presence of mine Enemy. She anointest my head with cool cloth; tears of gratitude runneth over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall breathe within us all the days of our lives and we will dwell in the house of our First Responder for ever. Amen. Please use the above form to submit your joys and/or requests for prayer. Your submission will be sent directly to Rev. Phil.

Recessional Hymn: How Great Thou Art |
1 O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
consider all the *worlds thy hand have made, I see the stars, I hear the *rolling thunder, thy power throughout the universe displayed. Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art! 2 When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze; [Refrain] |
3 And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent him to die, I scarce can take it in; that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, he bled and died to take away my sin; [Refrain] 4 When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim, my God, how great thou art! [Refrain] Words & Music: Stuart K. Hine |
Benediction: |

The Hope that raised Christ from the dead be around you. The Breath that raised Christ from the dead flow in and out of you. Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! |
