Prayer for Understanding |
We are born of you
Out of the womb of Your Word and yet we are still wondering who we are whose we are Sometimes we affirm you as our most beloved parent and often we draw back and question our lineage and our inheritance Gather us like a mother hen envelops her chicks within the shelter of her wing Re-mind us that we are your beloved and in so doing when we fail to understand at least we will be safe within your protective mystery. Amen. |

Prayers of the People: |
We are tired, O God.
Is it safe to ask if you are tired, too? Are you just as frazzled and frayed? Like a 5:30am parent crying not to have to wake up yet shuffles toward the kitchen like the merchant searching for the coffee bean of great price? Like a 7pm child crying not to have to lay down yet shuffles toward her room like the prodigal returning home; sinking into the mattress most familiar? Fatigue envelops us and so you, O God. We champ at the bit of boredom We stamp at the dust of distancing desiring for compassionate contact close conversation cloistered convocation We seesaw between wit's end and love's lane thankful for channels that mind the gap between family and friends So wait with us While we wait for you to arrive Pentecost draws nigh the promise of a new Holy Breath a new way to love Tuck us in for now, though Read us into the story again Kiss our foreheads and tell us all shall be well Keep watch over us all through this continuing night even though Mother of all mercy you are just as tired maybe even more so than we are. Amen. Please use the above form to submit your joys and/or requests for prayer. Your submission will be sent directly to Rev. Phil.
