James Tissot - The Pool of Bethesda
Welcome to Worship - Sunday June 21st, 2020
3rd Sunday After Pentecost - Father's Day
Opening Prayer: |
Holy Father,
remind us that we are your beloved children this morning we need your embrace that soothes our bruised being and skinned soul when we fall off the bike of life that feels like just this morning the training wheels came off We're shaky and nervous Hold onto us Don't let go as we try once again to pedal with the confidence of your grace at our back. We praise you this morning for your promised presence by our side. Amen. |
Entrance Hymn:
|
1 Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heaven ring,
ring with the harmonies of liberty; let our rejoicing rise high as the listening skies, let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us; sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; facing the rising sun of our new day begun, let us march on till victory is won. 2 Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, felt in the days when hope unborn had died; yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come over a way that with tears has been watered; we have come, treading our path thru the blood of the slaughtered, out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. |
3 God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
thou who hast brought us thus far on the way; thou who hast by thy might led us into the light, keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee; lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee; shadowed beneath thy hand, may we forever stand, true to our God, true to our native land. |

The Lord's Prayer |
Hymn: We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder |
1 We are climbing Jacob’s ladder;
we are climbing Jacob’s ladder, we are climbing Jacob’s ladder; soldiers of the cross. 2 Every round goes higher, higher; every round goes higher, higher, every round goes higher, higher; soldiers of the cross. 3 Sinner, do you love my Jesus? Sinner, do you love my Jesus? Sinner, do you love my Jesus? Soldiers of the cross. 4 If you love him, why not serve him? If you love him, why not serve him? If you love him, why not serve him? Soldiers of the cross. 5 We are climbing higher, higher; we are climbing higher, higher, we are climbing higher, higher; soldiers of the cross. |

Hymn of Prayer: There Is A Balm in Gilead |
Refrain:
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole; there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul. 1 Some times I feel discouraged, and think my work’s in vain. But then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again. (Refrain) 2 Don't ever feel discouraged, for Jesus is your friend, and if you look for knowledge he'll ne'er refuse to lend. (Refrain) 3 If you can’t preach like Peter, if you can’t pray like Paul, just tell the love of Jesus, and say he died for all. (Refrain) |
Offering: |

Recessional Hymn: God Hath Spoken by the Prophets |
1 God hath spoken by the prophets,
spoken the unchanging Word, each from age to age proclaiming, God the One, the righteous Lord! 'Mid the world's despair and turmoil, one firm anchor holdeth fast: God eternal reigns forever, God the first, and God the last. 2 God hath spoken by Christ Jesus, Christ, the everlasting Son; brightness of the Father's glory, with the Father ever one; spoken by the Word incarnate, God of God, ere time was born; Light of Light, to earth descending, Christ, as God in human form. 3 God yet speaketh by the Spirit, speaketh to our hearts again; in the agelong Word expounding God's own message, now as then. Thru the rise and fall of nations, one sure faith yet standing fast, God abides, the Word unchanging, God the first, and God the last. God the first, and God the last. |
Benediction: |
May the Spirit of God
flow in and out of you. May the Creation of God grow and live in you. May the Peace of God gentle and grace you. Now... Now. Amen. |
